Train puppies not to bite, this can be a major challenge for us dog lovers. The arrival of a new puppy is an exciting time for any household. Biting puppies starts out as fun, but needs to be stopped quickly to avoid further problems. With young puppies, biting is a perfectly natural phase to go through when they are teething. At this time you need to have lots of chew toys on hand.

The good news is that most puppies can be trained to stop biting rather easily, although the sooner you put a stop to the biting the easier it will be to stop. There are a lot of proven training methods to help correct this problem and stop biting problems. Always remember that you are dealing with a very immature young animal. Be realistic, flexible, patient, and always fair, your puppy doesn’t just automatically know this stuff and how you expect him to act.

Biting puppies, how to train a puppy yourself with these general obedience training rules.

The general rule to stop biting problems is to always encourage acceptable behavior and discourage unacceptable behavior. To learn more about this obedience training, visit the link at the bottom of this article.

Never slap or hit your puppy in the face or on the head because this does not work. Your puppy will just think you are playing with them. This could even make your puppy afraid of you and this may lead to a bigger problem. While you are trying to stop your puppy from biting never play tug of war, wrestling or chasing type games with them because it only promotes biting and nipping.

Biting puppies, this can be easy to rectify if you catch the problem early. When inappropriate biting occurs try to redirect the biting from you to a chew toy or chew bone. For very young puppies this method is often all you’ll need. As soon as your pup starts to bite your hand, just say no, then replace your hand with the chew toy.
